A couple of weeks ago, Hala Madrid was edged out by favourite King of Normandie at Windsor, leaving many saying “that one will win his next race” and the opportunity comes here at Chepstow in the 3:40.

King of Normandy’s subsequent defeat at Newbury is nothing to worry too much about – it was a significant step up in class, and it showed. At this level, King of Normandy was a strong winner and Hala Madrid’s second holds up well despite that Newbury defeat.

Alcatraz will provide relatively stiff opposition but I get the feeling that Hala Madrid is progressive and nobody has yet got a handle on her. She’s great value at 9/4.
