Wadi Al Hattawi was pulled up after just two furlongs on his second start of the season at York, after inexplicably losing his action, but has otherwise made excellent progress and can make it three wins from four starts in the Sakhee Godolphin Stakes (4.50) at Newmarket. The Dalakhani gelding was quite impressive when beating Intense Tango by 3¾ lengths over 1 mile 5 furlongs on the July Course at Newmarket in August and looks well worth a crack at Listed level.
Saeed bin Suroor’s 5-year-old has winning form on good to soft going, so shouldn’t be unduly inconvenienced by slower underfoot conditions and James Doyle has been in cracking form for Godolphin’s longest-serving trainer in recent weeks, with seven winners from his last 14 rides. His main rival, Cannock Chase, has winning and placed form in Group 3 company, so clearly merits respect but, unlike Wadi Al Hattawi, has his stamina to prove over 1 mile 4 furlongs.
